When Scotty is not on patrol, Windows may drop Scotty off the taskbar. Apparently because WinPatrol isn't doing enough and is just waiting for messages from Windows, the operating system determines that WinPatrol doesn't exist and the icon would disappear from the taskbar.
To resolve this problem, every so often WinPatrol will reinitialize the taskbar ico just to make sure it's still there. The result may be that Scotty moves to a new position.
